Healing Arts Institute is pleased to offer the Acupressure Certification Training in conjunction with the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, CA. The program consists of four extended weekend workshops totaling 120 hours of training.

What is Acupressure?
Acupressure is an ancient healing art developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago.  Using the model of meridians, or pathways of energy, acupressure is similar to acupuncture, but uses the gentle, firm pressure of hands (and feet in some techniques).  Using the power and sensitivity of the human hand, acupressure is especially effective in the relief of tension-related ailments, in self-treatment, and in preventive health care.
A practitioner trained in acupressure can use the techniques of massage (soft-tissue manipulation) combined with the acupressure points and techniques to help release tension, increase circulation, reduce pain, and develop more vibrant health.

What is the Acupressure Certification Training?
The Acupressure Certification Training covers several types of acupressure and leads to certification as an Acupressure Practitioner.

Students of this certification program gain proficiency in the study of over 75 acupressure points and 10 styles of acupressure as well as a strong working knowledge of the 12 organ meridians, pulse reading and the five element theory of traditional Chinese health care.  This training will include instruction in anatomy and physiology for those with no prior background in massage or bodywork.

Joseph Carter is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley in Conservation of Natural Resources and is a Licensed Acupuncturist in both California and Hawaii.
